What is the best running belt?

At first glance, it might seem like the answer is an easy one: “just about any of them.”

Running belts - or running "fanny packs", as they're often called - aren’t exactly the most complicated of running gear. While there are countless options out there, most of them are very similar.

Still, if you’re a passionate runner, I totally understand that you only want to use the best possible gear when enjoying your favorite pastime.

Before I go through my top 10, let’s quickly look at what actually constitutes a running belt.

The Best Running Fanny Packs in 2023 - a Quick Breakdown

What Is a Running Belt?

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you probably already know what a running belt is. It’s fairly self-explanatory: they’re belts…you wear…when running.

However, as you’re about to see, these belts come in a number of different designs. So, it’s important that you understand what all of your different options are before assuming you’ve found the right one.

I also want to make a helpful distinction before we move forward, which is the difference between running belts and fanny packs.

Running Belts vs. Fanny Packs

Running belts (or “jogging belts”) are designed specifically for people who need to carry items while doing cardio, whether that be running, jogging, or hiking.

Fanny packs (or “bum bags”, for you Brits) can certainly be worn during these activities, but they’re not made with their unique demands in mind. As such, fanny packs tend to be bulkier than most running belts. Furthermore, fanny packs tend to only have one large pocket, which is a deal-breaker for cardio-enthusiasts who don’t want to come to a full stop every time they need to dig through a fanny pack to find what they need.

So, on the below list, we are strictly evaluating running belts, though I’ve included a number of very different options for you.

The 12 Best Running Belts in 2023 (Options for Everyone)

And so, without further ado, let’s dive into this list of the best running belts (or "best running fanny packs") on the market in 2023. Here's the list of these belts if you want to click ahead.

...otherwise, proceed to go through our entire list of the best fanny packs out there in 2023.

2. Filoto Running Belt - $14.99

The Filoto Running Belt is one of the most popular options on the market, so this seems like a good place to start.

It features three traits that are common among these belts:

  • First and foremost, it boasts a robust construction made from sweat- and water-resistant materials. This ensures that your belongings stay dry and secure, even during intense workouts or unexpected rain showers. No need to worry about moisture damaging your phone, keys, or other essentials; this belt has got you covered.
  • Secondly, the Filoto Running Belt offers a dedicated storage strap, purpose-built for accommodating energy bars. This thoughtful design element ensures that you have quick and easy access to your energy source, helping you maintain your stamina throughout your fitness routine. It's the little things that count, and this belt understands the importance of quick refueling.
  • Third, this is a running belt with LOTS of storage space. It's more than capable of accommodating larger smartphones, such as an iPhone 11, measuring up to 6.5 inches. However, this spaciousness doesn't come at the cost of bulkiness; the Filoto Running Belt remains incredibly compact and unobtrusive. This is not your typical fanny pack; it's a smart, streamlined solution for those who refuse to compromise on convenience and style.

But these aren't the only reasons this is considered the best fanny pack on the market by many in 2023. So, let's do a more thorough breakdown.

For those who prefer to stay plugged in while on the go, the Filoto Running Belt offers an ingenious headphone opening. This feature allows you to keep your phone securely tucked away in the pocket while still enjoying your favorite workout tunes. It's all about multitasking and efficiency, ensuring that your fitness routine is both enjoyable and hassle-free.

But wait, there's more to love about this remarkable running belt.

The Filoto Running Belt boasts a generous pocket size of up to 9 inches, complete with two zippered compartments. This versatility means you can carry everything you need, from your phone to your passport, keys, ID, and other small essentials. It's the ultimate hands-free solution for various activities and festivals, allowing you to focus on the experience without the burden of carrying extra baggage.

The adjustable waist strap is another key feature that makes the Filoto Running Belt one of the best in the market. It accommodates waist sizes ranging from 31" to 44", ensuring a snug and bounce-free fit whether you're running, jogging, walking, or conquering obstacles. Safety is paramount, and the reflective loop adds an extra layer of protection, especially during low-light conditions.

Crafted from premium Lycra fabric, this running belt is both soft and waterproof, designed to withstand sweat and splashes. While it can handle water splashes, it's not meant for submersion. The hang loop and earphones hole offer added convenience, making it easy to access your phone and enjoy your favorite tunes during your workout.

What truly stands out is the compact and waterproof design of this running belt. It's seriously streamlined, designed for those who demand a secure fit that stays put, even during the most challenging trail runs. The moisture-wicking fabric keeps you feeling fresh, even as you work up a sweat. Plus, the reflective strip enhances your visibility in low-light and foggy conditions, prioritizing your safety above all else.

Perhaps one of the most appreciated aspects of the Filoto Running Belt is the headphone opening. This thoughtful feature allows you to stow your phone in the main pouch while still being able to enjoy your music. Despite its compact design, this ultra-lightweight bag has an uncanny ability to store a multitude of items, from your phone to hand sanitizer, energy snacks, and even a small 8-ounce water bottle. However, if you require additional storage or desire a more versatile design, you may want to explore other options.

3. FlipBelt Running Belt - $21.57 - $36.96 (depending on size)

Now, if you’re willing to spend a bit more, you might want to consider the FlipBelt Running Belt.

What makes this belt a real game-changer is its flat, stretchy design. It's all about conformity to your body, which means this belt won't go sliding around while you're pounding the pavement.

Now, you might think that belt slippage is a minor issue, but trust me, it's a deal-breaker. There's nothing worse than having to constantly tug at your belt to keep it in place, especially when your stuff inside is bouncing around like a jackhammer, or worse, chafing against your skin. That's a one-way ticket to discomfort city.

Much like Filoto's offering, the FlipBelt boasts a sleek and compact design, but it doesn't skimp on storage. In fact, it goes the extra mile with multiple access points. No more fumbling around in a single pocket; you'll know exactly where to reach for your phone, keys, energy bar, and whatnot while you're on the move.

But, hold on to your running shoes, there is one major downside to the FlipBelt. Unlike Filoto's option or the one we make, this belg bag is not waterproof. To be fair, that's not a deal-breaker for a lot of runners, but if you plan on logging miles in the elements or taking it out on the water when you paddle board or kayak, you might want to reconsider going with the FlipBelt. You can also check out our breakdown of the best waterproof fanny packs in 2023.

With that said, FlipBelt is really all about ease and comfort. It's a lightweight solution that won't bounce or shift as you run. Plus, it's machine washable, which is a huge plus. And let's not forget the zippered pocket for your valuables – an extra layer of security to keep your stuff safe.

The patented waist pack design is a winner. It sits flat on your hips, refusing to ride up or cause any discomfort. And the best part? No fasteners means no chafing. It's a winner for both men and women, regardless of your shape and size. You can even pick from a range of cool colors to match your style.

Putting on the FlipBelt is a breeze – just slide it on like a pair of pants, wear it over or under your clothes, and slip your items through the multiple openings. If you want added security, there's an internal key hook.

But this belt bag is more than just a running accessory. It's a versatile fanny pack alternative for a whole bunch of scenarios. Whether you're hitting the gym, traveling, or grooving at a concert, it's got your back. Need your inhaler, EpiPen, or diabetic supplies close at hand? Look no further than the FlipBelt.

Finally, it's worth pointing out that one of our commenters vouched for this particular running fanny pack. Specifically, they pointed out that the FlipBelt has lasted them more than a decade of regular use, which is a HUGE plus in our book.

4. SPIbelt Large Pocket Running Belt - $19.99 - $40.99

The SPIbelt Large Pocket Running Belt has a minimalist strap like the last two options but with a much different pocket. The stretchable Spandex on this belt does a good job of keeping it in place and wicking away sweat when you run without causing chafing. It even has six loops for your energy bars or running gels.

This running fanny pack rocks a minimalist strap like our previous options, but it's got a pocket that sets it apart. It features stretchable spandex that keeps it in place without causing chafing and efficiently wicks away sweat as you conquer those miles. Plus, it's got six loops to stash your energy bars or running gels.

At first glance, it would be easy to dismiss the pocket and - for that reason - discount this entire belt bag. So, why would we say it's actually one of the best running fanny packs on the market?

Because the neoprene it's made from is pure magic. It might look low-profile, but it's got a trick up its sleeve: it expands to fit smartphones of all sizes, keys, cards, and whatever else you need. And it's all easily accessible through a zipper on the front. So, no more digging blindly; just unzip and grab what you need. And to top it off, it's weather-resistant, which is a nice touch.

But, if I had to nitpick, I'd say that the zipper placement and stretchy material can make retrieving items a bit tricky mid-run. Imagine your phone at the back while your cards are up front – you might have to do a bit of a shuffle to get to your device.

Now, let's dive into the nitty-gritty:

The SPIbelt Original Pocket Running Belt is your trusty sidekick for keeping your phone, keys, and small essentials secure as you run, walk, hike, or travel. It's the ultimate phone holder for running, and it comes with an adjustable waist for a bounce-free experience.

Speaking of phones, it's compatible with popular models like the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A10e, S10, S10e, S20, Google Pixel 3a, 4, 4a, and 5. So, no worries about compatibility.

The expandable pocket is a game-changer, stretching to 6.5" x 3" x 2" inches. It's lightweight yet durable, and the pocket's zipper ensures that your items stay put. Plus, the comfortable, secure, low-profile pouch won't let you down.

Adjustable waist size? Check. The 1" wide soft elastic belt is designed to prevent chafing and bouncing, fitting waist sizes from 24" through 47". It's sturdy and reliable, even for the most active runners.

Oh, and here's the kicker: it's made in the USA by a woman-owned company. They get it, and they know how important it is to have a sleek running belt that won't weigh you down. The SPIbelt is more than just a running buddy; it's a fitness essential that can also double as a money belt or travel companion.

The SPIbelt Original is here to make your runs and workouts hassle-free. No more juggling your phone and keys; it keeps everything within easy reach.

Now, let's talk practicality meets fashion. The SPIbelt isn't just functional; it's offered in a range of colors and prints. No more settling for a generic running belt – make it your own.

You can find classic colors like black, red, pink, orange, green, and blue, or go for something more exciting like polka dot, rave, stars & stripes, and more.

Worried about keeping it clean? No problem. You can hand wash the SPIbelt with mild detergent, ensuring it stays vibrant and ready for your next run.

Finally, here are the important specs:

  • Dimensions: 9″ x 4″ x 2″ pocket, perfect for larger smartphones
  • Fits waist sizes from 25" through 47"
  • Bounce-free design
  • Expandable, secure, low-profile pocket
  • Comfortable, soft elastic that prevents chafing
  • Sturdy buckle and glides for all you active folks out there

So, if you've been on the hunt for a running belt that'll keep your essentials close, secure, and comfortable, the SPIbelt Original Pocket Running Belt is here to join you on your runs, workouts, and adventures. It's sleek, efficient, and designed with your needs in mind. Say goodbye to pocket problems and hello to hassle-free running!"

5. Lululemon Fast and Free Run Belt - $38.00

I’ve gone on record before saying that I think Lululemon’s leggings are overpriced, but that doesn’t mean I think they aren’t high-quality. While I can’t claim to wear them myself, women all over the world clearly approve.

So, I definitely wasn’t surprised to discover that Lululemon’s Fast and Free Run Belt is similarly popular for the same reason: it’s as comfortable as it is stylish and durable.

However, I WAS surprised to find that, while it’s more expensive than most of the other running belts on this list, it’s still fairly reasonably priced at just $38. That's not bad when you consider it's one of the best running fanny packs in all of 2023 AND carries the Lululemon brand name.

Let's look into what makes this belt bag so insanely special.

The Fast and Free Run Belt ticks off all the boxes you've come to expect. It's made from lightweight material that effortlessly wicks away sweat, ensuring you stay comfortable throughout your run. Plus, it's stretchy and conforms to your body, meaning no annoying bouncing as you hit your stride. And of course, it's got that sleek pocket where your phone can comfortably reside.

This belt bag also comes with side pockets – a feature I personally love. It's a game-changer when it comes to organization, and it reduces the risk of anything spilling out when you're in the midst of a search-and-retrieve operation.

Now, let's look at the specifics:

Designed for running, no surprises there. It's made from lightweight, sweat-wicking, quick-drying Nulux™ fabric, and it even has Lycra® fiber for that all-important stretch and shape retention.

And here are the measurements for the different sizes:

  • XS/S: 56cm - 68cm (22" - 27")
  • S/M: 71cm - 81cm (28" - 32")
  • L/XL: 83cm - 109cm (33" - 43")

There's a zippered stretchy pocket right where you need it to keep your phone handy. And there are those side drop-in pockets to stash your key, cards, and gels – because let's face it, you've got stuff to carry. Reflective details ensure you're visible even in low-light conditions. The adjustable low-bounce waistband comes with a buckle closure that lets you customize your fit. No sagging or bouncing here.

As for the materials and care: the back strap is made from 100% recycled polyester. The body is crafted from 84% Nylon and 16% Lycra® elastane. To keep it in prime condition, wash it separately, machine wash it cold on a gentle cycle, don't bleach it, lay it flat to dry, and skip the iron and dry cleaning.

6. AiRunTech Upgraded No Bounce Hydration Belt - $18.95

Okay, while those are absolutely great running belts – and extremely popular – they’re all missing one very important component if your running routine involves lots and lots of miles at a time:

Hydration.

Those other belts don’t give you any place to put a bottle of water, so you can keep going mile-after-mile even if the sun starts working against you.

So, going forward, I’m only going to list running belts that have space for your hydration of choice.

Let’s start with the AiRunTech Upgraded No Bounce Hydration Belt.

As the name tells you, this belt has two great things going for it. Not only does it have stroage space for a water bottle (and a whole lot more), but it will also position it in such a way that it won’t bounce against your body when you run.

This is why I’ve usually avoided waist belts with bottle holders in the past. It’s just no fun having a full body of water smack you in the hip or abdomen with every single step. I’d rather just take my chances with being thirsty.

With the AiRunTech Upgraded No Bounce Hydration Running Belt, your bottle is kept at a 45-degree angle and held flush against your body – right above your tailbone. It’s still within reach but it’s the positioning in the back – where it can be tight to your body – that keeps that dreaded bouncing from happening.

The 45-degree angle is what makes it so easy to grab and place back in its holder while still running.

On top of that, the Hydration Belt also has separate side pockets for extra storage space, an outlet for earphones, and the elastic stretch that makes this belt conform to your body. This running belt has a spatial design that caters to the needs of athletes. It features two zipper pockets, including an expandable stretch pocket with an inner layer and key hook. This main pocket can comfortably fit most smartphones up to 6.6 inches, including popular models like the iPhone 11, 8 Plus, and 7S Plus. It's not just for your phone; it's perfect for stashing credit cards, IDs, keys, energy gel packs, and other running essentials. Plus, there's an additional small pocket on the outside with a compression bungee band, providing extra attachment points for clothing, gloves, hats, and more.

Best of all, this amazing bottle holder is compatible with most bottles, thanks to its flexibility. Whether your bottle has a slim or wider diameter, this belt can accommodate it, with a holding loop for extra security. It fits bottle diameters up to 3.2 inches (80 mm), so you can bring along the hydration you need without worry.

And that's no small feature. This is one of those belt bags that is all about comfort and fit. Its anti-slip technology ensures that it stays securely in place while you're on the move. The hook and loop tape keep it snugly wrapped around your hips without any annoying loosening, even during intense runs. It's designed to be worn low on the hips, eliminating any friction that might cause discomfort. With a personalized fit for hips ranging from 20 to 47 inches (50cm-120cm), it caters to a wide range of body types. This level of customization ensures you have the ultimate freedom of movement and comfort.

Lastly, the price tag for this running belt isn't bad at all when you consider that it has storage space for your water bottle.

But if your runs require even more hydration, this next waist belt is going to be even more impressive.

7. G-Run Hydration Running Belt with Bottles - $18.97

Maybe you’re the type of runner who needs more than just one bottle to get through your grueling runs.

In that case, the G-Run Hydration Running Belt comes with two of them, each of which holds 10 oz.

The placement of these bottles goes on either side of this waist belt, so it sits comfortably near your navel. You’ll definitely feel them when you run, but this is another running belt that has the elasticity to stay tight to your body, so those bottles shouldn’t move enough to interfere with your pace. This is also helped by small silicone beads that line the inside of the belt right where the bottles are.

Even though the bottles are probably the main selling point, this running belt comes with a big center pocket, too, for pletny of extra storage space. There are actually multiple pockets inside of the zipper, as well, which makes it easy to separate your various items. And the large pockets are big enough for any iPhones, Androids, or Samsung smart phones. And this waist belt has ample space to store everything else you need: your ID, credit cards, cash, and keys. Additionally, it's suitable for holding essential fuel items like protein snacks, bars, and energy gels, ensuring you stay energized throughout your run.

And despite all of this incredible storage space, this is a running belt that's still going to sit nice and comfortable on your waist during your runs. Obviously, the more you use it to carry, the more you'll notice its presence during your runs, but that's going to be an issue with any of these running belts. The reason why we think it's one of the best is that it does a good job of keeping evertyhing in place without the belt constantly rubbing or bouncing against your skin.

While this isn't the type of fanny pack you'll wear around town - it's very clearly meant for athletic activities - it's a fantastic choise if you find yourself in need of a little more hydration when out for a run or hike. And, again, the price tag on this running belt makes it an easy choice if you're in the market.

8. 247 Viz Hydration Running Belt - $39.99

Maybe you need even MORE storage space for your water bottles than just those two other running belts can hold, though.

Maybe you’re not looking for just a jogging belt.

Maybe you’re looking for a belt that can help you run for a half-marathon or even longer.

In that case, check out the 247 Viz Hydration Running Belt.

It comes with four bottles that can hold 10 oz each. That’s 40 oz total!

Plus, they’re extremely well-insulated, which will help to keep your liquid nice and cold even when the sun is doing its worst. I also like that these are squeeze bottles, so there’s no struggling to unscrew a bottle when I’m trying to maintain my running cadence.

The large pocket is also designed to accommodate most phones. It's important to note that the stretchy phone pocket is intentionally snug to minimize movement during your run. This pocket can also hold essentials like cash, cards, keys, gels, and more. It's a practical solution for keeping your necessities within arm's reach.

Fortunately, the belt does a decent job of keeping these bottles from bouncing around too much. Instead of fabric holding them in place, 247 Viz used plastic, which makes a big difference.

And that's not all.

This running belt offers an adjustable waist fit that caters to runners of all sizes. You have full control over how tightly you want to secure it, minimizing any unnecessary movement or bounce while you run. You can easily move the belt up or down your waist and adjust the straps to find your perfect fit. Say goodbye to the annoyance of belts that won't stay put.

9. Entchin Fanny Pack with Water Bottle Holder - $10.27

I know that this list is technically only for RUNNING belts, but I wanted to include the Entchin Fanny Pack with Water Bottle Holder because it’s a great choice for those of you who need a solid hiking belt that can carry more than the other options on this list.

You could definitely take this belt running, but I think it’s just too bulky for most of us. Of course, with a very reasonable price tag, you can probably afford to try out this fanny pack for yourself to see how it works on your favorite trails.

In any case, the extra room for a water bottle and anything else you want to pack (you could probably fit a whole lunch in there) isn't the only reason we added this impressive belt bag to our list.

This fanny pack is equipped with a high-quality adjustable belt that boasts a quick-release buckle, allowing for a waist fit ranging from 27" to 47". Whether you're on the smaller or larger side, this belt ensures a snug and comfortable fit, making it suitable for a wide range of users.

Crafted from high-quality polyester, this fanny pack is designed to withstand outdoor adventures. Its water-resistant material is carefully selected to ensure durability and performance, no matter the weather conditions. You can trust that your belongings will stay dry and secure. So, again, this would be a great option for hiking or even camping trips if you're worried about the elements.

The dimensions of the Entchin Fanny Pack are impressive throughout - not just where the water bottle is concerned - offering ample storage without being overly bulky. With measurements of 11.88.51.6 inches, it strikes the perfect balance between size and functionality. The front pocket, with a generous 6.3" opening, and the main pocket, boasting a 6.7" opening, provide convenient compartments for your essentials.

Despite all the credit we've given it for size and storage space, this belt actually has a pretty lightweight design . This is a crucial feature for hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts who value comfort and mobility during their activities. The Entchin Fanny Pack won't weigh you down, allowing you to move freely and comfortably. If you've looekd at other options with this kind of storage space, you've probably noticed that "lightweight design" usually isn't included as one of their more notable features.

10. Runtasty Running Belt - $30.99

The Runtasty Running Belt stands as an excellent choice for active individuals seeking a versatile running belt with built-in holders for water bottles, offering a range of features that elevate the running experience.

One of its standout attributes lies in its Anti-Slip Technology, meticulously designed to ensure the ultimate fit and comfort. Designed to be comfortably worn on the hips, this is another running belt with plenty of storage space for water bottles - and a lot more - that won't hold you back, slow you down, or make for uncomfortable runs.

It accommodates a wide range of waist sizes, ranging from 27" to 37" for both men and women. This "No Bounce" Fit is of paramount importance for runners, as it guarantees that the belt stays perfectly snug against the hips, eliminating any discomfort or distractions during physical activities. With each use, its fit only improves, making it an indispensable companion for those who prioritize comfort and functionality.

The Runtasty Running Belt also boasts two separate, extra-large "Stay-Dry" pockets, with a unique feature: a Touchscreen Compatible Cover. This innovative addition really sets this particular waist belt apart from the others on this list. The feature allows users to take calls, check messages, or adjust their music without the need to remove their devices from the sweat-proof pocket. The touchscreen-ready window is a game-changer for individuals constantly on the move. Furthermore, the front pouch comfortably accommodates even the largest cell phones, such as the iPhone 7/8 Plus/X/11/12/13/14/15 Pro Max or Note 8/S9/S10+/S20, even with regular protective cases.

Incorporating practicality and hydration into its design, the Runtasty Running Belt comes complete with two BPA-free bottles, ensuring that you never run dry during your active pursuits. These bottles offer a total of 20 ounces of hydration, providing ample refreshment for walks, runs, hikes, or any journey you embark upon. Staying well-hydrated becomes effortless, as this running belt guarantees a constant supply of your favorite beverage.

11. CamelBak Ultra Running Belt - $55.00

Finally, if you want to make sure you stay hydrated during your long runs, but you just don’t like the feeling of carrying bottles – no matter how much they stay in place – then I recommend you check out the CamelBak Ultra Running Belt.

The big draw with this running belt is its Quick Stow flask, which stores in a pocket at the back of the belt. This collapsible “bladder” flask is soft, so it fits perfectly against your body. When it’s empty, you don’t have to keep carrying a big bulky bottle.

And if 17 oz isn’t enough, there’s more room in the front pocket for another small flask if you want. This belt also comes with drop-in side pockets and another drop-in pouch for any gel or snacks you want to take with.

Unfortunately, there’s also another feature that makes the CamelBak Ultra Belt stand out from the rest of the running belts on this list: its price tag.

Of course, as this could be the one-and-only running belt you ever use and as it’s the only brand-name option that will keep you hydrated without needing to carry traditional bottles, it might still be worth it.

12. Naked Running Belt - $55.00

The Naked Running Belt is a new editon to our list in 2023.

If your top priorities are carrying capacity, but some of the other options above seem a bit too cumbersome, the Running Band is worth considering.

It still offers plenty of storage space (and organization) but also does a great job of staying in place even during hard runs. Inside, three pockets provide sufficient space for your cards, keys, phone, and even a bit more.

The Naked Running Band also has a key clip, clips for race bibs, and silicone-backed loops that can secure any layers you remove during warm runs (e.g., your jacket).

And it comes in 12 different sizes, so no matter how big or small you are, there's a version of this running belt that will fit comfortably during your favorite outdoor activities.

But here's the real reason we think this is one of the best running fanny packs of 2023: the storage space is perfect for a wide range of different types of water bottles, as well as other supplies that are essential for triathalons, ultra marathons, long hikes, camping trips, and more.

Yet, despite all of this, the Naked Running Belt is still sleek and streamlined enough to make for very comfortable movements no matter what your favorite activities entail.

Which Is the Best Running Belt on the List?

Obviously, it depends on what kind of running you plan on doing in 2023.

And, of course, running belts aren't JUST for runners. Many of the options we listed above are just great belt bags you can wear for a wide array of activities, from paddleboarding to hiking to just wearing around town for a little extra storage space (belt bags have become quite the fashion accessory in 2023).

The good news is that, aside from the CamelBak and Naked Running Band running belts, most of these fanny packs shouldn’t break the bank.

So, worst-case scenario, you may have to try out one or two before you find the right waist belt for whatever activities you pursue.

Personally, I’d stick with the waist belts that can carry water bottles and (extra storage space for your other necessities) because if you find yourself getting parched during your runs, you’ll never be happy with a belt that doesn’t have room for hydration. On the other hand, if you just want somewhere to put your keys and phone, that storage space for water bottles might become an annoyance.

Start with that consideration, spend a few bucks on one of the options above, and I think you’ll end up very happy with your choice.

And please let us know what you think about any running fanny packs or belt bags you try, so we can continue to update this list in the future.

I don’t get it. Why is the flipbelt zipper so short. I struggle with my 13 plus.

A vote for the flipbelt from me – been happily doing urban runs with one for the last ten years, it’s still in great condition. Super comfortable, does not move at all, keys do not jingle, lots of space. They also sell a water flask (which I don’t have). One note – since I bought mine they now offer a zippered version. I would buy this, not because anything ever fell out of mine, but because when you take the belt off it doesn’t secure anything. I want to e.g. leave metro ticket, some money and a facemask inside at all times.
